If this Family Portrait from two hundred years ago were to be interpreted, today...??
1) A married couple, seen with their seven children.....
2) A divorcing couple, each having selected "their" children, divided by this separation.....
3) A family, to be divided by the death of the Father....leaving four childred and their mother penniless and three children with his estate, in accordance with the laws of inheritance at this Time.
4) Four Sons and Three Daughters, their parents having died of consumption, leaving the three daughters in search of wealthy suitors and the four sons with vast Estates.
5) A Protestant Family, depicting their social rank via appropriateness of their lace and collar proportions.
6) The product of an incestuous relationship..with some secretive side-glancing and finger-pointing.
7) Jean-Auguste-Dominique Ingres was way beyond their budget.......
