'FUN & GAMES' or "HUMANOID GREAT APES, ENGAGING IN MORTAL COMBAT"?




I went to BESTBUY  to get a copy of "Life of Pi", noting that the parking lot was packed...unusual for a Wed. afternoon.......The automatic doors opened to a mass of young, highly animated boys-to-men, obediently waiting their turns to shoot, stab, blow up and annihilate anything that appeared on their "screens"......Appalled, even disgusted, I quickly fled through the line of bloodthirsty pubescents.....to the DVD dept......where I was immediately accosted by a women, my age, who was searching for a DVD set of some actor reading the entire Holy Bible........I ignored her, of course, as her entire mindset was both obvious and off-putting........Nevertheless, she approached me, wasting none of her time and too much of mine.......and made a comment about the COSMOS series on DVD (that was being placed on display)......"that atheist nigger will burn in hell, unless he and all those other atheist-scientists accept Jesus as their personal savior"......Sometimes, I let myself forget that there are multitudes like this stultifyingly stupid, dogmatic dolt and multitudes of frustrated, fantasizing youths... compelled to share the temporary joyful satisfactions of their Virtual Kills......I fled past a pair of 60-ish ex-Sufi-mystic hippies who were panhandling for bucks to buy hash oil, and sped off into rush-hour traffic.....with only an Anoushka Shankar recording to distract me from "REALITY".

  yet another old photo, taken in the late 1970's, at 2793 P'tree Rd., with it's fragile emulsion separating from the underlying Ilford photographic paper.....Subjects: Tim Brogan and Katrina Motiska, Atlanta transplants from Allentown, Pa......from a Series....that did not utilize this photo....that I mounted and placed in a box for viewers to 'arrange as they will' to tell a 'Story' suggested by the photos....I placed small white 'stick-on's upon the reverse of the mounting boards, then calculated the 'correct order' of the photos that were chosen by a group of 13 viewers that had never before met the subjects of the Series, but who rearranged the photos into various orders of their own intentions, then verbalized The Interpretive Story that the photos depicted.........."Art School 'Keep Busy' Stuff".....
